In the realm of modern agriculture, the preservation of biodiversity stands as a paramount concern, and AgriBIT is at the forefront of this movement. With a vision that aligns seamlessly with the importance of biodiversity, AgriBIT is gearing up to unveil its groundbreaking Precision Agriculture services at this year’s AgroGlobal event, scheduled for thebetween the 5th and the 7th of September.

AgroGlobal, the premier Portuguese national agricultural fair, provides an unparalleled professional platform for the entire agricultural value chain to converge. The event is not only a hub for sharing knowledge but also a catalyst for fostering agro-business relationships. Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Tejo floodplains, this dynamic and interactive event brings together generations of farmers’ experiential wisdom and the cutting-edge technological marvels that industries offer to the sector.

At the heart of AgriBIT’s mission lies a commitment to enhancing the agricultural chain through innovation and sustainable practices that safeguard biodiversity. The AgriBIT project aims to revolutionize Precision Agriculture services by seamlessly integrating Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), with a specific focus on Galileo positioning and augmentation services like EGNOS. These advanced satellite-based technologies are coupled with Earth Observation (EO) data, on-field and on-machine sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, and expert agricultural insights.

With six core objectives that drive its vision, AgriBIT is well-poised to redefine precision agriculture and its impact on biodiversity:

  1. Market and Needs Analysis: By understanding the unique requirements of various agricultural uses and crop brands, AgriBIT tailors its solutions to address specific challenges.
  2. Higher Precision Location Services: AgriBIT’s integration of high-precision Galileo and EGNOS GNSS receivers ensures accuracy in location-based services, fostering resource optimization and reducing environmental impact.
  3. Affordable European Sourced Technology: Making high-precision technology accessible, AgriBIT leverages European resources to enhance the capabilities of farmers and advisors.
  4. Comprehensive Bundle of Precision Agriculture Services: Farmers and advisors can benefit from a comprehensive suite of services, empowering them with data-driven insights for decision-making.
  5. Services Uptake Strategy: AgriBIT doesn’t just provide solutions; it also strategizes to ensure widespread adoption, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
  6. Open Service-Oriented Platform: Fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, AgriBIT’s platform is designed to facilitate the integration of enablers and enabled services.

An exciting highlight of AgriBIT’s presence at AgroGlobal 2023 is the eagerly anticipated workshop. Scheduled for September 5th, the workshop promises to unveil intriguing developments:

  • Drone Flights Results in Greece: AgriBIT will showcase the real-world applications of drone technology in agriculture, highlighting its role in data collection and analysis for informed decision-making.
  • Results of Weather Stations: Attendees will gain insights into how weather stations contribute to precision agriculture, aiding in predictive modeling and risk mitigation.
  • Enablers and Enabled Services Integration: AgriBIT’s cross-platform visualization will illustrate how various enablers and services come together to create a cohesive ecosystem, maximizing agricultural efficiency.

Last but not least, after the workshop is scheduled a demonstration session where the project partners will:

  • Demonstrate the GNSS enablers with the mobile app
  • Demonstrate the AgriBIT Cross-platform visualization
  • Give it a try for attendees with a hands-on session
  • Showcase the drone flights over the CCTI tomato fields

This event is made possible through a strong partnership with the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and the European Commission. Collaborative efforts with Engineering Ingegneria Informatica Spa, AGENSO, RFSAT Limited, Agricolus S.r.l., AgroApps PC, INOV, CCTI, A.C. Pella, and the collaboration of Wikifarmer further amplify AgriBIT’s impact.

In conclusion, AgriBIT’s participation in AgroGlobal 2023 is a testament to its unwavering commitment to revolutionizing agriculture through precision and innovation, all while embracing the vital concept of biodiversity. By seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology, data analytics, and expert knowledge, AgriBIT is set to shape the future of agriculture in a manner that ensures ecological balance and sustains the planet’s rich biodiversity for generations to come.
