Aplications are open until 15 September 2026 for the 10th edition of the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award, an initiative of Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico) that promotes gender equality and recognises the role and impact of women in Engineering.
Established in 2016, the award annually honours two women graduates of Técnico: an Alumna with more than 15 years of professional experience, recognised for her professional and/or social contributions, and a Young Alumna under the age of 27, recognised for the scientific quality of her Master’s dissertation and her academic journey at Técnico.
The award honours Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo, an Engineer and distinguished Técnico alumna who made a significant impact on Portuguese society and politics and became the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of Portugal.
The institution INESC INOV-Lab supports the initiative and encourages the participation and nomination of women whose achievements serve as references and contribute to strengthening female representation in Engineering and Science.
