INOV Researcher Appointed Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization in the XXIV Constitutional Government of the Portuguese Republic

The 41 new Secretaries of State for the XXIV Portuguese Constitutional Government have been announced. Alberto Rodrigues Silva, full professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico and former associate researcher at INOV – INESC Inovação and INESC-ID, has been appointed Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization, as part of the Ministry of Youth and Modernization.

This appointment follows the recognition of Professor Alberto Rodrigues Silva’s work and path of excellence in the area of innovation and technology. As a researcher at INOV, Professor Alberto has been a leading figure in the development of advanced solutions to contemporary challenges related to the modernization and digitalization of the country. His vast experience and technical knowledge will be of enormous value in driving forward policies and initiatives that promote modernization and digitalization in Portugal.

In addition to the appointment of Alberto Rodrigues Silva, it is important to highlight the presence of another figure from the INESC ecosystem. This is Ana Paiva, who will take up the post of Secretary of State for Energy, as part of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy. Ana Paiva is affiliated with the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Research and Development (INESC-ID), where she has played a significant role in researching and developing innovative solutions in the field of energy.

Ana Paiva’s appointment, together with that of Alberto Rodrigues Silva, highlights the Portuguese government’s recognition of the quality and impact of the work carried out by national research centers.
