On 3 November, a historic moment was marked with the first joint meeting of the three INESC institutes based in Lisbon: INOV – INESC Inovação, INESC ID and INESC MN. This meeting was conceived with a clear objective – to foster synergies and boost collaboration between these institutions of excellence in research and development (R&D).
These three institutes, INOV – INESC Inovação, INESC ID and INESC MN, located in Lisbon, are part of the INESC group, thus consolidating its commitment to scientific research, technological development and innovation.
The main objective of this meeting was to promote the sharing of knowledge, thus boosting scientific and technological innovation that has a substantial impact on various areas of our society. Strengthening collaboration between these organisations has the potential to trigger significant new advances in the research landscape in Portugal and worldwide.
A key element in the success of these collaborations is INESC Serviços, a platform that plays a crucial role in enabling the work carried out by INESC Lisboa‘s institutes. This platform is the backbone that makes it possible to coordinate and integrate efforts, ensuring that synergies translate into tangible results.
The event was structured to cover both joint and individual sessions, offering a complete overview of each institute’s capabilities and achievements. INOV, for example, organised sessions in which it invited external partners to share insights into the importance of their work in supporting companies by empowering them with essential technological knowledge.
Two aspects highlighted as fundamental to INOV’s future are effective communication and the productisation of the systems developed. These are pillars that will boost the visibility and impact of INOV’s initiatives, bringing them into line with the constantly evolving needs of industry and society.
The culmination of the event was the closing speech by the Minister for the Economy and the Sea, António Costa Silva. The Minister emphasised the importance of the work carried out by the three INESC institutes in Lisbon and issued an inspiring challenge: to continue to make a significant contribution to technological development and innovation in Portugal. Looking to the future, the commitment of all those involved remains firm, paving the way for remarkable advances in research and innovation.
