On-Board Specific Transmission Module

Objective

Development of an STM (Specific Transmission Module) solution that will allow communication between the current system installed in the railway infrastructure and the ERMTS system (European Railway Traffic Management System) embedded in the rolling stock.

Impact

It is intended that this new system is user-friendly, that is, it should be easy and quick to install as well as having modular characteristics so that the different functionalities can be installed independently, allowing the optimization of maintenance operations, reducing costs and increasing the life cycle of the track and rolling stock.

INOV participation

INOV participates in all phases of the project, including:

• Study of the standards currently in use in the national automatic protection system
• Contribution to the definition of system specifications
• Development of the specific hardware and software that will give rise to the national STM
• Definition of test environments and participation and monitoring of the entire phase of laboratory tests and a posteriori “in line”, with the developed STM inserted in real rolling stock
