Network design for the substation of the future
Objective
The first aim of this project was to define and write the new technical specifications of the Local Area Network for the substation of the future. The second aim was the development of a methodology for simulation of ICT systems in the substation environment with IEC 61850 traffic. This methodology was developed by using an ICT network simulator from Riverbed. The third objective was to use the methodology in real-time simulation within a co-simulation environment. This project was done with the joint research center of REN and State Grid of China, R&D NESTER, in Portugal.
