In partnership with the Association of Municipalities of the Region of Setúbal, INOV organised on 26th October a workshop dedicated to security and data privacy within the scope of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applicable from May 2018.
The fifth workshop of this partnership was meant to address the challenges that local public authorities face with the guidelines of the regulation which set new obligations for citizens and public and private organisations. The presentations focused on process management to prepare and implement the regulation and on technological issues raised by this new approach to handling personal data. To ensure a holistic perspective considering several variables on the issue, the speakers at the event were Henrique Mamede, Professor at Universidade Aberta, Florbela Cunha, responsible for GDPR implementation at a financial institution, and António Gonçalves, a researcher at INESC-ID.
The event took place at the Municipal Library of Palmela and was attended by around 60 employees from the municipalities of the region of Setúbal.
